    Overview

Nestled within Georgia’s Amicalola Falls State Park, this intimate, eco-friendly Inn is only accessible by foot which makes it all the more special. The moderate five-mile hike to the Inn takes between two and four hours, depending on your pace, and while it’s possible to tackle the 10-mile round trip in one day, a night or two at the Inn comes with peace and beauty in the depths of nature, far from the trappings of modern life. Its four main buildings offer 20 private guest rooms, hot showers, fresh linens, and home-cooked meals - family-style dinners and breakfast is included in the rate. A selection of board games and puzzles are provided in the Sunrise Room, and there’s a 5pm daily tour which educates guests on the Inn’s sustainable features. Evening activities may include wildflower or photography walks, and staff can advise on local hike routes to explore. Some prefer to simply relax in an Adirondack chair where Blue Ridge Mountains views and spectacular sunsets provide plenty of nature theater.

    Offline Factor

The Len Foote is designed as a retreat from the outside world, so guests are requested to NOT bring cell phones, laptops, or other electronic devices. At the very least, they are not permitted in common areas. The Len Foote is free from public phones, and this remote location comes with limited telephone contact. Emergency communication can be directed to the Amicalola Falls State Park Visitors Center. It’s all about unplugging at the Len Foote so cell phones, laptops, and radios aren’t tolerated, but there is a solar charging station in the lobby for camera charge. Electrical outlets (and hair dryers) are available in the bath house.

    Area

The Inn resides in Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest near the southern end of the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain - a few hours drive north of Atlanta. The only way to reach the Len Foote Hike Inn is by walking five miles along a moderate trail. The trail makes a trek to the lodge from the nearby Amicalola Falls State Park, traveling just under 5 miles, each way, crossing small streams, mild ridges, and fern-filled valleys. Depending on your pace, the hike can take anywhere from two to four hours.
